Sofa slipcover styles and details
A slipcover can look relaxed or tailored depending on the details. We agree each one in writing before cutting.
- Skirt. Box pleated, gathered, kick pleat at the corners, or no skirt with the legs left visible.
- Fit. Close tailored to look like upholstery, or a softer, looser fit for a relaxed coastal style.
- Edges. Self piping, contrast piping or plain seams.
- Closures. Concealed zips on cushions, ties or hidden fastenings on the main cover.
- Spare covers. A second set for the seat cushions, which take the most wear.
3 seater and 2 seater sofa covers
The 3 seater sofa cover is the one we make most. Even so, two 3 seaters from different makers can differ by 20 cm in arm height and seat depth, which is why standard covers rarely fit. We measure every panel: outside arms, inside back, deck, cushion depths and the drop to the floor, then make a paper or calico pattern where the shape is complex.
L shaped sofa covers
An L shape sofa cover has to handle the corner seat, which is deeper than the others, and cushions of two or three sizes. We cut the main cover in sections joined at the corner so it lies flat, and label each cushion cover by position so it goes back on the right seat after cleaning.

Can you make a cover for any sofa?

How long does a custom sofa cover take?
