Curtain tracks and installation

Curtain installation Dubai: tracks, rails and fixing done properly

Good curtains fail on a poor track. The Fabric Room handles curtain installation in Dubai from survey to final dressing: we choose the right track for the weight and style of curtain, fix it securely into concrete or gypsum ceilings, and hang the curtains so they run smoothly and stack neatly. Ceiling tracks, wall tracks, double tracks, bends and motorized systems are all covered.

In shortCurtain installation means choosing a track or pole, fixing it at the right height and width, and hanging and dressing the curtains so they glide and fall evenly. What our curtain installation in Dubai covers

Curtain installation is part of every curtain and blind order we make, and it is where much of the result is decided. We survey the window and ceiling, choose the track, fix it, hang the curtains, set the overlap and stack, and dress the folds so they fall evenly from the first day.

We install ceiling tracks, wall tracks, double tracks for sheer and blackout layers, bendable tracks for bay windows and corners, concealed tracks set into a ceiling recess, decorative poles, and motorized curtain tracks. If you already have curtains you like, we can supply and fit a new track and rehang them, and we will tell you on the visit whether they need altering to suit the new height.

Curtain fixing jobs in Dubai often start with a track that has pulled out of a gypsum ceiling or gliders that keep jumping off. We find the cause before refitting, so it does not happen again.

Curtain track or curtain rod: which should you choose?

Tracks and poles both hold curtains, but they suit different rooms and headings. The table sets out how each type performs.

Ceiling curtain track fixing in Dubai homes

Most new Dubai villas and apartments have a gypsum false ceiling below the concrete slab. Gypsum on its own will not hold a loaded curtain track for long, and this is the single most common reason tracks come down. We fix through to the concrete slab where the void allows, or into a timber or plywood batten above the gypsum, or use heavy duty cavity fixings rated for the load. The method is agreed on the survey.

If you are building or renovating, the best result is a curtain pocket or recess planned into the false ceiling, with a batten fixed in before it is closed. We are happy to advise your contractor on the size of the pocket. On solid concrete or block walls, we drill and plug into the structure directly.

Bracket spacing matters too. Heavy interlined blackout curtains on a wide window need brackets closer together than light sheers. We set spacing to the weight of the curtain, not to the packet instructions.

Getting the details right: width, stack, gliders and overlap

A track should extend past the window frame by about 15 to 20 cm on each side, more for heavy curtains, so the curtains stack back clear of the glass when open. Where wall space is tight we calculate the stack width so you know exactly how much glass stays covered.

We fit gliders matched to the heading, wave carriers spaced for wave curtains and standard gliders for pinch pleats, plus overlap arms so the two leading edges cross in the middle and block light. End stops and cord or wand controls are set so the curtain draws smoothly. For a full guide to the parts, read our curtain tracks guide.

How curtain installation works with The Fabric Room

We visit, check the ceiling and walls, measure each window and recommend the track and fixing. You receive a written quote within 24 hours covering track, fixing method, curtains if you are ordering them, and any motor. A 50% deposit books a fixed installation date.

On the day our team arrives with everything needed, protects floors and furniture, fixes the track, hangs and dresses the curtains, and cleans up. We test every track before we leave. The work carries our workmanship guarantee. Price depends on track type and length, ceiling construction, bends and motors, and our curtain cost guide explains the factors. If you are considering automation, see our motorized curtains guide first.

Why choose The Fabric Room for curtain fixing in Dubai

We make the curtains and fit the track, so there is no gap between two trades blaming each other. Every installation is planned around the curtain weight, heading and the light you want to block.

Renting? Tracks are usually a fixture, so check what your tenancy allows before we drill. We keep the number of fixings to what the load needs, and holes in gypsum or concrete can be filled and painted when you leave. For a new handover, we can fit every track in the home in one visit so you move in with curtains already hanging.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can a curtain track be fixed to a gypsum ceiling?

Yes, but not into the gypsum alone if the curtains are heavy. We fix through to the concrete slab, into a timber or plywood batten above the gypsum, or use heavy duty cavity fixings rated for the load. We decide the method on the survey after checking the ceiling.

How far should a curtain track extend past the window?

About 15 to 20 cm on each side as a starting point, and more for heavy or very full curtains, so they stack back clear of the glass. Extending wider also reduces light leaking round the edges, which matters for blackout curtains in bedrooms.

Is a ceiling curtain track better than a wall track?

For floor to ceiling curtains, wave headings and blackout rooms, usually yes, because it hides the track and stops light at the top. A wall track suits windows with a deep cornice or where the ceiling cannot take fixings. We recommend the better option for each window on the visit.

Can you install tracks for curtains I already own?

Yes. We can supply and fit a new track and rehang your existing curtains. If the new track height changes the drop, we will tell you whether the curtains need altering and quote that separately. We check the hooks and heading to make sure they suit the new gliders.

What is a double ceiling curtain track for?

A double track holds two layers, usually a sheer at the back and a blackout curtain at the front. Each layer draws independently, so you can have soft filtered light by day and full darkness at night. Double tracks can also be motorized.

Can a curtain track go round a bay window?

Yes. A bendable track is shaped on site to follow the angles of a bay or a corner window, so the curtain can run round in one piece. Poles cannot follow tight bends, which is one reason tracks are preferred for bays.

Tell us about your piece. We will take it from there.
