Ready made sofas come in a few widths and one depth. A custom sofa starts with your room. We take the measurements at your home, including doorways, lifts and stair turns, so the sofa fits where it goes and can get there.

Frames, foam and fabric: what goes into our custom sofas

The parts you do not see decide how long a sofa lasts. Our written specification lists each one, so you can compare us properly against any other custom sofa makers.

• Frame. Kiln dried hardwood or quality plywood, joined and braced at the corners.
• Suspension. Serpentine springs or high quality webbing, depending on design and seat feel.
• Foam. High density seat foam, typically 30 to 40 kg per cubic metre, softer for backs, wrapped for comfort.
• Fabric. Chosen from our library at your home. For daily use, a Martindale rating of 25,000 or more. See the upholstery fabric guide.
• Finish. Piping, top stitching, buttoning and pattern matching set out in writing.

Custom furniture in Dubai beyond the sofa

Many clients come to us for one sofa and finish the room with matching pieces. Using one maker keeps fabrics, finishes and proportions consistent.

We also make upholstered headboards and beds, ottomans and footstools, accent and dining chairs, majlis seating, and custom cushions cut to fit. If you already own a sofa with a good frame, reupholstery may be the better route.

Upholstered custom furniture we make

Our custom furniture is upholstered furniture: pieces built around a frame, foam and fabric. That includes sofas, armchairs, headboards and beds, benches, ottomans, window seats and banquettes. We do not make cabinetry or case furniture, which keeps our attention on seating and soft pieces.

Matching a whole room

When the sofa, accent chairs and cushions are specified together, fabrics can be balanced across the room, with a plain on the sofa, a texture on the chairs and a pattern on the scatter cushions. We plan quantities together so dye lots match and offcuts become cushions rather than waste.

What drives the price of a custom sofa?
