What chair upholstery do we do in Dubai?

We reupholster almost any chair with a sound frame. The most common jobs are dining chair sets, armchairs, accent and occasional chairs, wingbacks, tub chairs, nursing chairs, desk chairs with upholstered seats, and bar or counter stools. We also make new upholstered chairs to order when you cannot find the right shape.

Chair reupholstery is usually worth it when the frame is solid timber and the joints are tight. A chair you love, an inherited piece or a set that matches your table is often far better value recovered than replaced, and you choose the exact fabric rather than taking what the shop has. If a joint is loose or a leg is cracked, we include the repair in the quote so the chair goes back stronger than it came.

Dining chair reupholstery: which type of seat do you have?

Dining chairs are built in a few distinct ways, and the type decides how much work is involved. Check yours against the table. We confirm it on the visit by looking under the seat.

Armchair upholstery, rebuilt from the frame

An armchair takes more load than any other seat in the house, so armchair upholstery is more than a new cover. We strip the chair back to the frame and check every joint. Sagging seats usually come down to tired webbing or springs, so we replace the webbing, retie or replace springs where needed, and lay new high density seat foam, commonly 30 to 40 kg per cubic metre, with a fibre wrap for a smooth finish.

Then the details. We can keep the original shape exactly or change it: add or remove piping, add deep buttoning to a back, swap a skirt for exposed legs, or change the leg finish. Wingbacks and channel backed chairs need careful pattern placement so stripes and motifs run straight across the curves, and that is written into the specification before cutting starts.

Older armchairs sometimes hide horsehair, coir or coil springs under the fabric. Where these are still sound we can keep them and rebuild over the top, which preserves the original sit of a well made chair. Where they have collapsed we replace them with modern equivalents and tell you exactly what changed.

Upholstery fabric for dining chairs and armchairs

Choose chair fabric for how the chair is used. Dining chairs are sat on daily and meet food and drink, so we recommend a Martindale rating of 25,000 or more for heavy domestic use, and a performance fabric with a stain resistant finish for families. Occasional armchairs in a quiet room can take softer weaves from 15,000 for general domestic use.

Leather and faux leather suit dining chairs well because they wipe clean, though real leather needs conditioning in Dubai, where air conditioning dries the air. Velvet gives depth of colour but marks with pressure. Linen looks relaxed but creases. Near a sunny window, pick a fade resistant weave. Upholstery ideas for dining chairs that work well: a contrast fabric on the back of the seat only, piping in a darker tone, decorative studs along the seat rail, or patterned fabric on the end chairs and plain on the rest.
